El-Nuhud – SudanScope
A source from the city of El-Nuhud told SudanScope that this season's crops have been subjected to systematic looting by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), targeting all agricultural products, including gum arabic and peanuts, following the RSF’s entry into the city, which is located in West Kordofan.
The source explained that the quantity of gum arabic produced this year was unusually large, prompting producers to store it within the city after the warehouses became full. Due to the lack of safe routes to export areas, they resorted to keeping it inside private rooms and courtyards.
Regarding peanuts, the source confirmed that the looting was of an unprecedented scale. Large quantities were thrown onto the streets, some were set on fire, and sacks of peanuts were even used to fill potholes in the roads to facilitate vehicle movement.
The source added that these assaults have caused a major collapse in peanut prices, with the price per quintal dropping to between 7,000 and 9,000 Sudanese pounds, compared to the normal price range of 42,000 to 43,000 pounds.
It was also confirmed that large quantities of the looted crops were transported to Darfur and from there, out of Sudan.
