Security authorities in Southern Darfur state arrested volunteers working in the Emergency Committees in Beliel Locality. Those arrests occurred when a senior official in the locality ordered all the financial sources devoted to humanitarian aid from an international organization to be consolidated into a single banking account under his control. The volunteers opposed such a decision, denouncing it as a corrupt practice.

The Emergency Committee declared the grant on its official Facebook page to ensure transparency and community oversight. An activist in the Emergency Committees said that local authorities are restricting humanitarian aid work, which will impact services provided to the people. He urged the competent authorities to avoid politicizing humanitarian aid and push it into the ongoing flammable conflicts in the country.
